Mark DeWitt

He advanced to Branch Manager with ThyssenKrupp Elevator (purchased Miami Elevator) and was in charge of running the Savannah, GA Branch that encompassed a two hour radius from Charleston, SC to the Florida border. Within this time period, he managed 32 employees and over 1,000 units under maintenance. He was also charged with not only managing the operations of two growing cities (Savannah, GA and Charleston, SC); but, also responsible for selling maintenance, repairs, modernization and new construction.  He returned to his hometown of Jacksonville, FL and helped to grow the service operations of Schindler Elevator as the New Business Development Representative. Jim Halstead

Jim is a veteran of the vertical transportation industry since 1980. He has held positions as mechanics helper, mechanic, adjuster, foreman, supervisor, department manager and company owner. He was the service manager of the largest independent elevator company in New York City with almost 3000 elevators under contract employing over 80 service technicians. Among the buildings in which he worked as mechanic and later was responsible as manager for are: The Empire State Building, Chrysler Building, and the McGraw Hill Building in Rockefeller Center. While learning the trade in Manhattan, “I had the privilege” he says of working side by side with some top notch old school mechanics, controller manufacturer software designers, tough but fair independent elevator company owners and with very demanding property managers and owners. He now looks forward to having the the privilege to service the elevators at your building.
